Should I try drain cleaner first?
We'd rather you didn't. Caustic products often just sit on top of the blockage, and they make the job unpleasant and more dangerous when we do open the pipe. A plunger is fine.
Water is coming up in my shower when I flush — what is that?
That's a blockage in the shared soil stack rather than a single fixture, and it needs dealing with quickly before it backs up further. Ring us.
Do you clear outside drains too?
Yes — gullies, inspection chambers and the runs between them, as well as everything inside.
Is it my responsibility or the water company's?
Broadly, drains within your boundary are yours and shared sewers beyond it are the water company's. We'll tell you honestly which side of that line your blockage falls.
